With 15 years of experience on the IBM i platform, two-time IBM Champion Joseph Wright has extensive expertise in software development, database administration, and modernization.
Joseph has led complex code conversions and database migrations, bridging legacy systems with modern API architectures and backend frameworks. His technical specialties span ILE RPG, SQL, NestJS, Python, PHP, and Node.js, with experience in databases including Db2, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
His work includes designing and scaling highly concurrent API workloads, developing modern full-stack applications, and managing enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and database architecture. He also mentors developers on change management, documentation, unit testing, and ethical AI use.
An active leader in the IBM i community, Joseph serves as Vice President of Conferences for the OCEAN user group and as a Subject Matter Expert for COMMON’s Education Committee. He is also a core team member for the Code for IBM i project and shares his expertise through conference presentations, workshops, and technical writing.
