March updates to PHP Toolkit for IBM i

All are invited to try and enjoy this update before it’s officially packaged:
XMLSERVICE 1.7.8 and PHP Toolkit 1.5.0

My favorite part is in the performance improvements. There are also bug fixes to data areas and data queues, configurable PASE CCSID, an HTTP-based driverless transport, and more.

Change log for PHP Toolkit (front end)

Change log for XMLSERVICE (back end)

Try these and let me know how it goes (especially if you encounter any issues).

    Hi, Frank,

    You’re correct about 1.7.8 and 1.5.0. To see version numbers: Once you’ve connected to the toolkit in your code, and assuming your connection object is called $conn, use this code to see version numbers (and, as a bonus, the name of your toolkit library):
    $frontEndVersion = $conn->getFrontEndVersion();
    $backEndVersion = $conn->getBackEndVersion();
    $xmlServiceLibrary = $conn->getOption(‘XMLServiceLib’);

    echo “Version of PHP Toolkit API (front end): $frontEndVersion<BR>”;
    echo “Version of XMLSERVICE (back end): $backEndVersion<BR>”;
    echo “XMLSERVICE is running from library $xmlServiceLibrary.”;

    This code works with v1.4.0+

    Hi Alan,

    How can I see what versions I’m currently using?

    XMLSERVICE 1.7.8 and PHP Toolkit 1.5.0 seem to be the latest.
