GnuPG PHP Extension for IBM i: Now Included with Seiden Support

GnuPG logoAt Seiden Group, we listen to client requests that keep their IBM i applications secure, modern, and practical.

Recently, a customer asked us to port the GnuPG (GNUPG) PHP extension to IBM i. This extension is now available to Seiden Support subscribers.

GnuPG for Security

GnuPG (GPG) is widely used for public-key encryption, digital signatures, and key management. For PHP applications, the GNUPG extension provides a reliable, native interface for:

  • Encrypting data before sending it to partners or external systems
  • Decrypting incoming files securely and programmatically
  • Digitally signing documents or payloads to ensure integrity
  • Verifying signatures from partners or vendors
  • Managing keys and trust settings directly within PHP

Adding this capability on IBM i allows PHP applications to integrate with established GPG workflows, automate secure file exchanges, and improve compliance, without external scripts or brittle workarounds.

New Benefit of Seiden PHP+ Maintenance and Support

The GNUPG extension is now included in Seiden maintenance and support.

The advantages of Seiden support are even stronger now, including:

  • Up to 24/7 emergency support for your whole PHP stack
  • Proactive tune-ups, with advice on configuration and upgrades
  • Job scheduling and queuing tools
  • Assistance with IBM i connectivity (ibm_db2, ODBC, toolkits, Mapepire)
  • Security bulletins

As with all our enhancements, GNUPG has been built and tested for IBM i.

If your team handles encrypted interchange or wants stronger security patterns inside PHP applications on IBM i, we’d be glad to help you get started.
